blogsong #3: Serene

Here's an old song from the vault. Originally written for the band called James Grieves, with my good friend Niels on vocals. As he added a verse to the song, so he's mentioned as one of the authors. The initial inspiration for the theme came from the live performed song 'Glycerine' by the band called Bush, Pinkpop 1997. Allthough the two songs apparently don't have anything in common, I think the inspiration came from words ending one a phonetic '...ene'.
Maybe the nicest compliment I ever got for a song came from a friend, who told me that when he heard the song he had to think of his then ex-grilfriend from Berlin, the eastern part of it. Somehow the word serene said something about her appearance; cool and transparent white...
What's more to tell about Serene? Well, it has been a favorite song of many. It appeared on the play list of the next band  I played in called Manolo. As this band was more rock oriented, I'd say, I lost the acoustic touch of it, so it can only be played reasonably well on electric guitar, but never mind and here it goes:
