Mountain Girl was written first just as a text. I went on a holiday with a friend of mine to see Prague. In the train back to Amsterdam, I thought I'd write a poem in English about what happened in Prague, which appeared much harder then I thought. But later I put some very simple, straightforward chords under the words. It turned out to be just a simple, straightforward song, and a nice and simple piece of story-telling, based on true facts!
Mountain girl
Text and music by Joris Kleverlaan
walking down streets of cobble stones
looking for some bars and girls we can meet.
Now in this less corny bar,
with tequila and salsa,
I finally met some eyes
as dark as Coca Cola.
chorus:
Oh, long legged mountain girl
won't we ever meet again.
I thought you liked me,
or did you just simply refrain.
After some dancing and talking for a while
you said you must return to the people you were with.
Maybe we can meet one time again,
let's say Carl's Bridge four o'clock,
we will see what we will do,
but I am not through with you.
chorus
Now I was waiting still standing on the bridge
the hours are passing by my hope went down the drain
We will never meet again,
as though I couldn't care,
but I swear I’ll never forget my one and only brunette
chorus
