blogsong #6: Day-by-Day

Here's another song telling a bit about my life in the last decade. It is about big things in life, as they happen day by day. It came about when I listened a lot to Tom McRae's album Just Like Blood. I came up with two pretty weird chords (fyi: 3-X-0-2-3-X and 7-X-X-6-7-X), that even chordfind.com doesn't recognize. They matched the melody pretty well though. The chorusses are wordless, recently I changed the la-la-la into a whistling melody. +Shanti came up with that! The song starts very introvertly, but ends with an outrageous break: this party's going all the way, hey hey hey!!

Day-by-Day

Words and music: Joris Kleverlaan

Call it a speedball
call it life.
I’m in control,
I will survive.

First you await me,
then you sedade me
separate me,
            for a while…
This is day-by-day

Call it a minimal
call it my child.
We will give it a name
we will give it live.

First we’ll believe it,
then we’ll greet it,
surely feed it,
            what’s needed
This is day-by-day

Chorus

Call it a war room
Call it a fight
Remember this
Outlook on life

As soon as we hover
In our helicopter
Yeah we will discover
            We’re all brothers
This is day-by-day

Chorus

Break:
Yeah we watch television
Head to head collision
This party’s going all the way hey hey hey!

We won’t get suffocated
Nor be hibernated
This party’s going all the way hey hey hey!
